Approach

Blonde isn’t a production house. It isn’t a creative agency. It isn’t a specialist animation studio, or a brand consultancy, or a content shop.

It’s all of those things, working together, under one creative direction, for clients who need a partner that can think as well as make.

The case for Blonde

Most studios sit in one of three boxes. Production houses execute beautifully but don’t think strategically. Creative agencies think strategically but outsource the craft. Specialists are deep in one thing – just animation, just photography, just one sector.

Blonde is the rare hybrid. The strategic creative thinking of an agency. The craft and pipeline of a production studio. The full-stack capability of a brand consultancy. And the speed and accountability of a small, founder-led team.

That’s why we’re known as the agency’s agency – and why brands come to us directly when the brief needs more than a production company.

How we work

1. We start with the brief – then we challenge it.

Most production briefs land already half-solved. Ours rarely do. We’re brought in early because our clients want us to push back, ask the awkward questions, and bring ideas to the table – not just execute what’s already been signed off.

Sometimes that means we’ll suggest a different angle on the strategy. Sometimes a sharper creative platform. Sometimes a smarter approach to budget or production. Always with the client’s intent at the centre.

2. We think across every craft, from the start.

Brand identity. Strategy. Creative. Film. Photography. Motion. Animation. Design. The disciplines are connected from day one – not bolted together at the end.

Which means when you see a Blonde campaign live across TV, social, OOH and digital, every element shares the same creative DNA. Because it came from the same place.

3. We work as an extension of your team.

Whether you’re an agency client bringing us in to deliver for your brand, or a brand client running an integrated campaign, we operate inside your team. Same Slack channel. Same WIPs. Same scrutiny. No black-box agency theatre.

That’s why our clients keep coming back. Long-term partnerships, not project relationships. Some of our agency relationships have been running for over six years.

4. We deliver under pressure, on budget, and with care.

A national TV ad in four weeks (Young Minds). A global pharma campaign across three continents (UCB). A culturally-reactive CTV launch on Amazon Prime (ExpressVPN). Live broadcast across the UK (Department of Business & Trade). A children’s charity rebrand that needed to land with parents and kids alike (Young Epilepsy).

We’ve built the production discipline to deliver work at this level, week in and week out, without dropping the creative ball.

What we bring to every brief

Strategic creative thinking. We’re as comfortable interrogating the strategy as we are framing the shot. Our founders trained in BAFTA and Emmy-winning TV drama, and British Arrows-winning advertising at McCann – the creative DNA runs through every brief.

Full-stack craft. Creative. Strategy. Film. Photography. Motion. Animation. Brand. Design. All under one roof, with one point of contact, and one creative direction holding it together.

Healthcare and charity specialism. Twenty-plus pharma relationships and counting. Long-term partnerships with charities like Parkinson’s UK and Young Epilepsy. The kind of subject-matter literacy that takes years to earn – and that makes complex briefs easier to land.

Global production capability. UK, Europe, North America, Australia and beyond. Multi-country film shoots with live-streamed monitoring across continents.

Sustainability built in. A 75% reduction in carbon footprint on our recent UCB Advantage Hers campaign, achieved through careful planning, consolidated travel and efficient production. We use AdGreen tools and align with albert and Ad Net Zero principles on every shoot.

Twenty years of trust. Independent and founder-led since 2008. Close to a thousand projects. Recognised by Communiqué, Lovie, Creativepool, PM Society, PMEA, PRWeek, IPA Best of Health, Brand Film Awards and the Portobello Film Festival.

Trust and confidentiality

The work we do is often confidential by design. Pre-launch pharma campaigns. Pre-release entertainment. Internal corporate strategy. Pitch material for agencies. Brand work for direct competitors. We treat every brief, every conversation, every project as fully confidential – by default, and from the start.

We sign NDAs as a matter of course and routinely propose them on our side when none is offered. We never disclose client work between clients, agencies, or competitors. We never use one client’s strategy, creative or learnings to inform another’s, and we don’t talk about projects we’ve worked on until they’re publicly launched. That’s not a process we follow because we have to. It’s how the studio operates, every brief, every time.

It’s also why we can work with multiple agencies in the same sector, on different briefs for different brands, without conflict. Discretion is part of what we offer – and it’s part of why our longest-running client relationships have lasted as long as they have.

What our clients say

“Since the very start, Blonde have been an extension of our own agency team, seamlessly integrating their creativity, knowledge and passion to deliver big ideas and big results to match. Our clients love working with them and so do I.”

Leah Peyton, Director and Healthcare Lead, Europe — RuderFinn

“What we really love about working with Blonde is that they bring their own ideas to the table. They’re not afraid to challenge the brief, come at it from a different angle, or come up with that leftfield idea you needed. They’ve helped us win new clients, retain existing ones, and win some of the biggest awards in our industry.”

Oli Richards, CMO & Growth Lead — Beyond

“This campaign has completely changed the whole ethos of our charity.”

Zohra Vermani, Former Head of Brand Marketing and Content — Parkinson’s UK

Frequently asked questions

What kind of work does Blonde do?

Blonde is an independent creative studio based in London. We produce film, photography, motion design, animation and brand work for agencies and brands across healthcare, charity, consumer, broadcast and public sector clients. Founded in 2008, we’ve delivered close to a thousand projects, ranging from global brand campaigns to national TV adverts to integrated brand and identity work.

Is Blonde a production company or a creative agency?

Both. We think strategically like an agency, deliver craft like a production studio, and bring the full-stack capabilities of a brand consultancy – all under one creative direction. Most studios sit on one side of that line. We deliberately sit across it.

What clients does Blonde work with?

Across healthcare and pharma: UCB, GSK, AstraZeneca, AliveCor, Sanofi, Bayer, Roche, Novartis, Idorsia, Takeda, Johnson & Johnson, Vertex, Gilead, Celgene, Ipsen and others. Charity and cause: Parkinson’s UK, Young Epilepsy, NHS, Young Minds, The Eve Appeal. Consumer and lifestyle: ExpressVPN, Peroni, Land Rover, NatWest, Canterbury, Mercedes-AMG. Broadcast and entertainment: BBC, Sony Pictures, Universal, Paloma Faith, Rudimental. Public sector: the UK Department for Business and Trade.

Does Blonde work directly with brands, or through agencies?

Both. We’re known as “the agency’s agency” — trusted by some of the biggest healthcare, creative, media and PR agencies in London to deliver work for their clients. We also work directly with brand clients who need a partner that can handle the whole campaign, from strategy through to delivery.

How does Blonde handle confidentiality and NDAs?

Confidentiality is built into how we work. We sign NDAs as a matter of course and routinely propose them on our side when none is offered. We never disclose client work between clients, agencies or competitors, and we don’t share strategy, creative or learnings across briefs. This is why we can work with multiple agencies in the same sector without conflict, and why our longest-running client relationships have lasted as long as they have.

Where is Blonde based?

We’re based in central London at 86–90 Paul Street, EC2A 4NE. Our production work spans the UK, Europe, North America, Australia and beyond.

Is Blonde an independent studio?

Yes. Blonde has been independent and founder-led since 2008. We’re not part of a holding company or network. Our founders, Benjamin Dawson and Doug Newman, run the studio day-to-day and direct every project we take on.

What’s Blonde’s approach to sustainability?

We’re aligned with AdGreen, albert and Ad Net Zero, and we use the AdGreen Carbon Calculator on production. Our recent UCB Advantage Hers campaign delivered a 75% reduction in carbon footprint compared to comparable global productions, through careful planning, consolidated travel, and efficient use of crew and resources.

Does Blonde offer brand identity and design as well as film?

Yes. Brand identity, design, photography, motion graphics, 2D and 3D animation, and print/digital design all sit within our Studio offer – alongside the film side of the business. We’ve delivered full brand refreshes (Young Epilepsy and St Piers School), integrated campaign design (ExpressVPN), and global campaign photography (UCB, AliveCor).
